The magic LAB® is a new modular laboratory mixing system that gives the user the ability to test a wide variety of applications on a laboratory scale. It is especially designed for mixing, dispersing, wet milling and incorporation of powders into liquids. With seven different mixing heads, interchangeable mixing tools and variable speed control, the versatility of the magic LAB is unsurpassed!
Many work parameters of the magic LAB are identical to those of the IKA® 2000 inline production machines: UTL, DR, CMS, MHD, MK, and MKO. Therefore, the magic LAB ensures a reliable scale-up by offering the possibility to work with the same method from formulation development to full production.
The basic machine consists of a single-stage high shear mixer, ULTRA-TURRAX®, UTL. It comes equipped with a medium (4M) generator, and includes a transport and storage case as well as an integrated electronic controller that is ready to use. The module ULTRA-TURRAX® UTC converts the magic LAB to a batch disperser, similar to the larger IKA machine UTC. Here, the magic LAB is inverted and mounted to a telescopic stand. Furthermore, the Micro-Plant converts the magic LAB to a recirculation system.
The magic LAB is controlled by a user friendly control pad, and is positional for easy viewing. Select the module and the speed range, and the magic LAB is ready to go. Set points are changed with a keypad that easy to maneuver. In addition, language options are available in English, Spanish, German, French, or Italian.
A durable and functional storage case is included with the magic LAB for easy mobility. The case includes drawers for storing the mixing heads and generators

- 3/4” inlet, 1/2” outlet Connections
- Integrated controller with built in timer, speed control, and torque indication. (an optional temperature sensor is available in “Accessories”)
- Double jacket for heating or cooling.
- All wetted metallic parts are made of 316 stainless steel.
- FPM O-rings
- Shaft seal materials made of a high performance PTFE compound
- Medium generator 4M (rotor & stator) made of 316 stainless steel, maximum flow rate is 0.6 gpm

Dispax Reactor® Module, Micro-Emulsions & fine suspensions
Converts basic unit to a three stage dispersing machine:
Three-stage high shear dispersing module, Dispax Reactor® (DR). Three generators (Coarse-Medium-Fine) are arranged in series for optimum performance and functionality. Additional generators can be interchanged to create a wide variety of configurations (see list of available generators below in “Accessories”), maximum flow rate of the 2G, 4M and 6F generators is 0.6 gpm, the conversion kit consists of two generator, 2G coarse and 6F fine(rotor & stator).

MHD Module, Continuous Solids-Liquid Disperser with mechanical feed
Converts basic unit to a solids-liquid dispersing machine:
Powder-liquid dispersing module, with a patented design, that feeds and disperses powders into liquids in one step. The MHD’s unique design mechanically feeds the powders, eliminating the excessive aeration that results from machines that suction in the powders. The first stage feeds the powders, and the liquid is injected and blended in the second stage. The third stage contains a rotor and stator that can easily be interchanged to suit a variety of applications. The generator included in the kit is the high flow 2P.

|
CMS Module, Solids-Liquid Blender with suction
Converts basic unit to a suctions feed, solids-liquid blender:
The CMS feeds by vacuum and disperses powders into liquids in one step. The CMS feeds in the powders by a strong vacuum, which is ideal for wetting out difficult-to-mix powders and can eliminate the need for an auxiliary feeding device.

MK Colloid Mill, Wet and fine milling of tough, grainy raw materials & production of the finest emulsions and pastes
Converts basic unit to a adjustable gap colloid mill:
The MK Colloid mill is equipped with an adjustable milling tool, that is used for wet milling hard pigments and other solids with Moh’s hardness up to about 8. The milling tool has three stages of spirals that progress in finess, for superior emulsifying and particle size reduction.
|
|
|
MKO Cone Mill, Wet and fine milling of tough, grainy raw materials & production of the finest emulsions and pastes
Converts basic unit to a adjustable gap cone mill:
Cone mill with and adjustable milling tool that is used for wet milling hard pigments and other solids with Moh’s hardness exceeding 8. The milling tool has two stages, first stage is spiral toothed for pre-milling coarse particulates, and the second stage has tungsten carbide surface for fine wet milling.

ULTRA-TURRAX® UTC Batch Disperser Module
Converts basic unit to a batch disperser:
The UTC-module consists of an adapter and the dispersing tool (S25N-18G). For batch operation the magic LAB is equipped with the UTC-module and turned upside down. Telescopic stand not included.

|
Micro-Plant consists of a 1.5 l vessel (useful volume), circulation loop, hose nozzle and three-way ball cock. It can be operated in connection with the modules UTL, DR, MK and MKO.
The Micro-Plant is an enormously flexible plant for the determination of process parameters that are scaleable. It serves for development of applications as well for the determination of many process parameters including the proper mixing and dispersing module.
